this is a sample of azurite i packed at work today that really caught my eye. this mineral has been used in pigment for centuries and it’s easy to see why

That's really pretty!

Lapis was another example. Egyptian blue was the first known synthetic pigment. The history of colors is very interesting.

if you’re interested a cool book about the history of colors is The Secret Lives of Color by Kassia St. Clair. i read it back in 2021 and it’s really fascinating! kind of on a similar note i’ve been meaning to get around to The Fabric of Civilization by Virginia Postrel for years, which is a book about the history of textiles (so somewhat related)
